What is the Adur aNd Worthing small business grant?
Adur & Worthing Councils, in partnership with Adur and Worthing Business Partnership, are pleased to announce a new grant scheme for Small Business grants and Apprenticeship grants for micro and small businesses in the Adur and Worthing area.
The Small Business Grant is available to local micro businesses of up to 10 employees and the Councils are offering grants of up to £2,500 which you will need to match fund. For example, if you want to purchase some equipment that costs £1,500 you can apply for £750 from the grant fund and source the additional £750 needed from your own funds.
These grants aim to encourage growth and expansion of the local economy, leading to new employment opportunities. The grants also aim to facilitate spend using local suppliers and retailers, ensuring these are prioritised over national chains and discount sellers. Small companies can apply for cash until June 14 if they have not already received a hand-out.
The grants are for single payments of either £10,000, £5,000 or £2,500 and will not have to be paid back. The move is aimed at supporting businesses such as bed and breakfasts, market traders, or firms in shared or co-working spaces. Applicants must be able to demonstrate how the funds will develop their business. Grant funds payment is made retrospectively so applicants will need to ensure they have total funds available upfront and ready to start the project straight away. Once approved, applicants will be required to supply relevant paid invoices within 30 days.
The Apprenticeship Grant
Available to individual businesses with up to 50 employees, these grants take the form of a one off payment of £1,000 towards the cost of taking on an apprentice. Individual businesses can apply for up to two grants.
