What is the Small Growth Grants Dorset?

DGH currently has three grants on offer to Dorset businesses with ambitions to grow.The minimum grant amount is £1,000 and the maximum is £5,000. For example, to receive a grant of £5,000 the total project cost will be at least £20,000. Eligible project costs include capital equipment, new premises works and fitting, new digital capability adoption, and outsourcing of expertise.

New Business Grant

£1000 to help your newly registered business. 

New Product Grant

£1000 towards launching a new product or service.

Growth Grant 

£1000 to £5000 towards a project that will facilitate business growth, this grant covers 25% of eligible project costs.

For example, to receive a grant of £5,000 the total project cost will be at least £20,000.

Eligible project costs include capital equipment, new premises works and fitting, new digital capability adoption, and outsourcing of expertise.

This is a competitive application process and the guidelines and application are provided below. The grants are currently open with completed applications to be submitted by 31st May 2022, and with any resulting grant claims to be claimed by 30th June 2022

Who is eligible for the Small Growth Grants Dorset:

  • Your business must formally engage with the DGH programme and receive some support or guidance in the form of 1-2-1 diagnostic and information meeting.
  • DGH will not support planned business activities that do not add to the net growth of the Dorset economy by merely displacing the activity of other local businesses.
  • The business is an SME – with less than 250 staff and annual turnover less than €50 million.
  • ​You don’t work in these sectors – Agriculture (primary production & processing of agricultural products, banking and insurance (inc. brokers), fisheries and aquaculture, steel production, shipbuilding, synthetic fibres, public sector or publicly owned organisations.
