What is the West Dumbarton Business Start Up Grant?
West Dunbartonshire Council offers a Start-Up Grant of up to £500 for businesses that are just starting to trade in the local area. The council have their own expert advisers to guide you through the whole process from start to finish. The West Dumbarton Business Start Up Grant provides new-start businesses with access to a wide range of detailed information, advice, workshops and events in areas such as business planning, marketing, business finance.
You are eligible if your business will be trading in or from an address in West Dunbartonshire.
You must also:
- have written a business plan
- have opened a business bank account
- not be in arrears with West Dunbartonshire Council
Grant funding is available to assist with the costs of adapting their premises in order to meet the Government requirements for Covid-19 physical distancing and safety. This programme supports 50% of training fees up to a maximum of £3,000. The aim of this grant is to improve business competitiveness and provide employees with transferable skills and knowledge.
The West Dunbartonshire Council also hosts a number of events each year giving local businesses the opportunity to learn, network and take advantage of a wide range of expertise. The start up grant will be made “to the business” not an individual. Therefore, where there is more than one owner of the business, for example in a partnership or limited company, only one can apply. You will need to provide details of other individuals involved in the business. Only one application for the Business Start-Up Grant will be considered in any 12-month period.
